Annual Landscape Competition
This week we saw the judging by Paul Mitchell FRPS, MCSD, head of the Distinction panel for landscapes at he RPS of the Devizes Photography club’s Annual Landscapes Print and Projected Image Competitions for the Silver birches Salver and the Derek Turner Memorial trophy respectively. Paul commended the club on the high standard of images and prints presented and had a tough job choosing the winners. What was unusual was that he had not previously seen the images before the judging took place but he gave very useful and full commentary on the images allowing members to gain more knowledge on what to look out for when taking images - waiting for the right list being key to a great image.
The Silver Birches Salver was won by Bridget Codrington, with Golden Mist Pewsey Vale. Paul Commented on how it was a good idea to not dismiss taking a telephoto lens with you to extract details from the landscape as seen in Bridget’s landscape.
In the Projected image competition David Evans took the Derek Turner Memorial Trophy with Golden Light, Ribble head. Paul emphasised the need to wait for the light to come to create more atmospheric images.
This week we also enjoyed home made biscuits, made by Jean Benson. GC.
