Keyhaven

Members of the club before heading out to the salt marshes and Keyhaven Nature reserve.

Here are our club members at Keyhaven ready to see what we could find and what a day we had! I think Alan Benson is our lucky charm because we saw a number of rare birds and he was also on hand to give us hints and tips along the way including identify what we found as this is an area of photography which is new to a number of us.

We saw a large variety of birds but the first major rare sighting was a White Tailed Eagle being mobbed by buzzards and the size difference was significant (see image on carousel below). It was followed not long after by a Sandling which was hanging out with the Turnstones. A number of visitors were also very excited with a new arrival and we went to see what it was….

What people were looking at was a North American Surf Scoter which is defiantly not a usual sighting in the uk. But it was not that near to shore and looked like a black blob to most of us. The gallery below shows some of our sightings. PC
