The Heart of the Photograph

This weeks Photography Club meeting was a first for the Club. We gave a pre-recorded talk by David du Chemin “the Heat of the Photograph”. While still putting the evening out on zoom. It was very good to see thirty or so members at the meeting.

David’s talk was about perspective, better subjects, better expression, when and where is the ‘moment’, mood, mystery, emotion, contrast and juxtaposition. He made a point of not taking an image of something, but about something, the latter being more important. And also asking other questions behind the process of making an image, like ‘energy’ contrast, depth of field and what does your lens say.

David is a great story teller, and comes across as thoughtful. through. questioning everything about process. An excellent, thought provoking talk.
