Jay Hallsworth LRPS, AFIAP, BPE3* was welcomed to our Club as our judge for the evening to open our first Print Competition of the year.

Jay took his time to explain his decisions with the beginners group and thought that the entries in this section were of an extremely high quality. He then tailored his comments as he went through the intermediate section giving tips on how images might be improved as he went through and on to the Advanced group. Congratulations to the winners: Barbara Jones with Red Squirrel for the beginners, Bridget Codrington with Candle of Remembrance for the Intermediates and David Wilkinson with Portrait of a Wild Leopard for the Advanced Section.

Jay also gave commentary on how the prints were actually mounted and views on the type of paper used for our images.

Caroline Wright then gave a short demonstration of how to mount an image onto a backing board and frame it. This will be revisited on the 15th November in a meeting of the Special Interest Group where she will revisit how to mount prints, people will be able to have a go themselves and also advise will be given on how to export images for competition form Lightroom and Photoshop.
